Fire Monitor Protection of High-Voltage Equipment and Other Equipment for Outside Installation

Automatic Installations Of Fire Extinguishing On Base Of Oscillating Fire Monitors For Protection

The FR Engineering Centre of Fire Robots Technology has elaborated the technical decisions “Automatic installations of fire extinguishing based on fire monitors with oscillators for protection of Russian energetic units”. Particularly there belong the oil-filled power formers, high-voltage equipment and other equipment for outside installation.

The suggested mean of extinguishing has several advantages:

  • the earlier applied pipes with distributing network of irrigators shall be excluded, and the circular pipeline with installed fire monitors stays;
  • location of the fire monitors on the an approachable height makes it easier to serve them, as well as formers and high-voltage equipment;
  • considerable reducing of the weight and dimensional indexes, possibility to use the existing water supply system (pipelines, extinguishing pump station), maintaining the adjusted intensity of irrigating, reduce the price and exploitation cost at replacing the existing automatic fire-extinguishing with drencher irrigators with the oscillator fire monitors;
  • application of the fire monitors with oscillating devices reduces the negative influence of the wind leading the stream’s drifting, because the angle of water supply differs relatively to the wind direction, taking the optimal meaning for fire extinguishing as well.

The fig. 2,3 show the scheme of protection of the power oil-filled former by the automatic installation of fire extinguishing with the oscillators. The fire monitors are installed on the circular firefighting pipeline Du 200 along the perimeter of the former on the distance not less 2.55 m, according to the requirements of exploitation terms. The location of the monitors provides the irrigation of every former’s part by not less than two streams.
